Windreader

Windreader keeps track of your heading on different altitudes. You can show/hide it with W key.

Altitude is rounded to 10 meters / ~30 feet by default (can be changed in Settings -> Windreader) and shows average of last 20 measurements for each level. Columns show, from the left: altitude in feet, direction of flight in degrees, speed in km/h, time since last measurement in minutes.

Closest windreading to your altitude has light background, readings above you are blue, and below you are orange.

Windreader supports import of Windwatch files in .csv, .dat and .txt formats. Upload file using blue drawer with up arrow button. Balloon Navigator expects altitude in feet, heading TRUE and speed in km/h. AGL measurements are converted to AMSL by using elevation extracted from file data, current position or view center (in this order).

Wind data sources can be filtered using green “Filter sources” button, which opens a small menu. You can select All sources, Only me or single source like Live Tracked pilot or import.

Windreader can sync flight measurements and imports between live tracked pilots. You can decide what to sync in Settings -> Windreader.

Wind Lines

You can draw lines showing wind directions on the map directly from Windreader panel.

Click on a windreading and it will create a wind line on selected waypoint. Clicked row will change color according to line color on the map. Colors are applied at random and you can keep clicking to change it.

Right click on windreading to open context menu, where you can decide where to place line on the map: target waypoint, selected waypoint or current position. You can also clear windline for clicked row (if exists) or clear all windlines from the map.

Wind Sectors

You can display all wind readings at once using Wind Sectors.

On Windreader panel, click on the blue pie chart button to display wind sectors from current Windreader data. Colors follow the same rules as windlines: blue is above you, orange is below. Length shows the distance you will travel in this layer in 30 minutes.

GPS Data

GPS Panel shows data from your GPS device. You can show/hide it with G key.

Blue panels show data related to air (ex. altitude). Red is speed. Yellow are related to time, and Orange relate to ground (ex. coordinates).

Flight Path

Flight Path draws a line showing where you will reach ground with current winds and set descent rate.

Envelope size and payload are used to calculate balloon inertia when crossing wind layers (bigger and heavier balloons react slower to wind changes). You can use constant descent rate calculation by entering “Final descent rate” or do more advanced simulation where you can set different descent speeds for different altitude segments.

Yellow eye button enables drawing Flight Path on the map. Use red down arrow button to freeze drawn line in place. To remove existing flight path from the map, right click on it and select “Remove flight path” in context menu.

Flight Path will assume ground at 0 AMSL if no elevation data is available on the map. You need Pro subscription to get full accuracy of simulation.
